GLOBALG.A.P Framework as Opener to U.S. Market

Producers Align behind the Global Standard after the TOUR2011 Stop in Mexico

Delegates of GLOBALG.A.P `s second stop of its TOUR2011 welcomed the opportunity in getting involved in harmonizing on-farm food safety. GLOBALG.A.P `s new Version 4, which came out this year, requires benchmarked standards like MexicoG.A.P to upgrade their practices to the new version during 2011. The timing for this is perfect, as the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act calls for similar action for food importers to the U.S. At the same time, the first harmonized GAPs food safety checklist for fresh produce in the U.S. is about to get a wider buyer acceptance and will have an impact on Latin American produce growers.
